Teyah Braithwaite Conducting a research study in exercise neurophysiology was a significant achievement for me. The experience came with many challenges, but I learned the value of problem-solving and the importance of hands-on experience in scientific research.
Carson Fidyk My proudest accomplishment came in Grade 12 when I set the bold goal of graduating with the highest academic average in my class of 180 students, all while training fourteen hours a week as a competitive tennis player. I earned the Governor General’ s Bronze Medal for top academic achievement, while also reaching a career-high provincial tennis ranking.
Jaelene Greenwood In the next ten years, I will be working as a registered nurse, ideally in pediatrics. Whether it be individual mentorship, becoming an instructor, or pursuing graduate studies with a focus on education, I am excited for what my future holds in teaching and guiding the next generation of nurses.
Khaleeya Gulamhusein I won the O’ Brien Centre Summer Studentship this summer, where I had the opportunity to conduct research for sixteen weeks under the supervision of Dr. Sandra Dumanski. This opportunity has been one of my most meaningful achievements, providing me with invaluable experience and deepening my commitment to research.
Lucy Hassett The superheroine that emulates the qualities I admire most is a DC comic character named Starfire, a member of the Teen Titans. She is extremely passionate about those she cares about, as well as any topic that excites her— characteristics to which I absolutely relate.
Beatrix Stone In ten years, I see myself reading and writing long research papers, for a PhD program or professionally. I plan to travel abroad so I can better understand the places and cultures I read so much about, with my homebase near-ish to my family, either in Canada or the UK.
Sarah Toews My high school Spanish teacher inspired me to apply my language skills beyond the classroom by immersing myself in Spanish-speaking communities. His encouragement sparked my passion for travel with the intent of deepening my understanding of different cultures.
Mikaela Zarsky The impact of teachers in my life has been immeasurable. From school teachers to professors to dance mentors, I have been fortunate to learn in spaces filled with greatness. Their guidance and support have pushed me to discover new strengths, expand my perspectives, and pursue pathways of self-discovery I never imagined.
