This ARTA scholarship will be of immense help to me in funding the last year of my English Literature undergraduate program and in my aspirations toward graduate studies . I will be applying for graduate programs both in Canada and abroad , and hope to eventually use my experience in academia to teach English at the university level . I come from a family of teachers , and having seen the ways in which a good teacher can impact the lives and budding subjectivities of her students has always been a great inspiration to me . Teaching at a university is a huge responsibility , and I believe that my dual experience with formal training at the University of Alberta combined with the tradition of education in my family puts me in a unique position to make a difference .

I am so excited and honoured to be awarded the 2016 ARTA Certificate / Diploma Scholarship , and I cannot thank the association enough for this recognition . I am currently in my last semester of the Human Resources Management Diploma Program at NAIT ’ s JR Shaw School of Business . This education will provide me with the opportunity to pursue a career in human resources , where I plan to help others during times of difficulty in their employment . I aspire to achieve progressive , yet compassionate , change regarding mental health and wellness in the workforce . With such lofty career endeavours , an unknown professor ’ s quote keeps me grounded and rings true to my circumstances :
