SWARTA Recognizes Volunteer of the Year
Craig Whitehead has always believed in service . After serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Quebec , he served as a member of the University of Lethbridge Senate , Budget Committee , and the Advanced Education Minister Advisory Committee .
He has a passion for sports , having refereed basketball for fifty years and rugby for twenty years and serving as a rugby referee coach . He is president of the Southern Alberta Senior Mens ’ Golf Association , which has raised over $ 21,000 for various local groups over the past few years . Craig has also been a director for the Picture Butte Golf Course and cochaired the organizing group for the ARTA Golf Tournament in 2023 , which raised $ 4,600 for the Alberta Retired Teachers Charitable Foundation .
Craig enjoys his positions as an ARTA representative for SWARTA and a member of the ARTA Pension and Financial Wellness Committee . “ Service has always been an expectation held by my family .”
