2019 Writing Contest
Julie Ginther | Communications Committee
This year I had the privilege of serving as the writing
contest coordinator. The quality of entries was
outstanding. I was very excited by the response to
our fi rst two categories of Poetry and Flash Fiction:
thirty-two poetry entries and twenty-four entries
in fl ash fi ction. In the special 2019 category of
“Confessions of a Classroom Clown,” we had a slight
misstep with publicity. At one point, the information
regarding the 2018 category “Once Upon a Time”
was published as one of this year’s categories. In the
end, we only had six entries under both categories;
be assured that we judged them all.
First place winners in all three categories are
published in this issue of news&views; second place
winners will be published in subsequent issues in
the coming year.
We hope that ARTA members are still writing and
will fi ll our mailbox with entries for the 2020 Writing
Contest. Categories will be revealed soon. The
deadline for that contest (promoted in the summer
issue of news&views) is November 13, 2020.
Congratulations to all the winners. Thank
you again to all entrants for your creativity and
inspiring words. ●
