Jeff

Laurie Dolph
I ran a school on Lakeview Drive When I was only nine My student was my brother , Jeff I made him toe the line !
He ’ d sit there , in our basement With a black slate and some chalk I ’ d teach him math and printing skills And how to read a clock
On field trips , we collected rocks We ’ d look at leaves and birds Then , back to sister ’ s school room Where I ’ d make him write some words
As time passed by , we both grew up And went to U of C He chose to be a doctor Twas a teacher ’ s path for me
As Jeff delivered babies And he married Sara S His sister taught for CBE And loved it , I ’ ll confess
We kept in touch with phone calls As he ’ d moved out to BC He ’ d tell me of adventures As he flew above the sea
He ’ d fly with paramedics On a Medevac health team And help with problem pregnancies He loved it ! Twas his dream
He told me of the views he had From up there in the sky As the pilot flew the Learjet To an island town nearby
The team would help the mother As she gave birth to her child And Jeff would be so proud and glad With modesty , he smiled
And then , one day , their plane crashed As the team flew out to sea I cherish these fond memories Of my brother , Jeff and me
