This year , ARTA ’ s Wellness Committee decided to shake things up for the annual wellness activity .

Instead of the wellness challenge , which saw participation from individuals , we decided to take a chance on an activity that would bring people together in a more immediate way , while incorporating physical wellness at the same time .

The “ Heart and Sole ” Wellness Walks took place from April 21 to 27 , in locations across Alberta and British Columbia . We saw participation from ARTA members , spouses , members of the community , and ARTA staff . In total , the walks had 373 eager participants . It was a great way to meet other retirees and celebrate the importance of being physically active in retirement .

All walk locations also collected food items for their community Food Bank , enriching the communities who kindly allowed ARTA members to take over their walking trails for a few hours .

Thank you to all the branch-level organizers , to ARTA for funding such a wonderful initiative , to HearingLife Canada for their sponsorship , and of course , thank you to everyone who came out and participated .
