Member Services : Winter Update
BY JERRY STEFANYK | Director , Member Services
First of all , please remember that the ARTA office will be closed commencing December 24 , 2016 , and reopening Tuesday , January 3 , 2017 . In the interim , Member Services wishes you all ‘ Happy Holidays !’
This last year has been an interesting one . ARTA has changed its emergency travel provider ; our plan administrator , Alberta School Employee Benefit Plan ( ASEBP ), has moved to another building ; and ARTA has introduced plastic membership cards for members , to mention a few changes .
During the year , Member Services receives many phone calls from members with questions . Some of the more common questions are these :
Do I have to let ARTA know when I go on holidays ?
It depends on your plan . If you are participating in a plan that includes travel ( Total / Ultimate ) going on a holiday for fewer than 92 days , you do NOT need to inform us . If your holiday is longer than 92 days and you have purchased supplementary travel coverage through ARTA , you do have to call our plan administrator ( ASEBP ) and give them your departure date and anticipated date of return if these have changed from what was originally applied for .
Who do I call if I have questions about my health care benefits ?
If you need information about your benefits or claims , you should call our plan administrator ( ASEBP ) directly at 1-855- 444-2782 .
What is the difference between my ARTA membership card and my ARTA Retiree Benefits Plan ID card ?
Your ARTA membership card shows that you are an ARTA member and has your ARTA membership five-digit number on it . It also has either an ‘ expiry date ’ or a ‘ card replacement date .’ Your ARTA Retiree Plan Benefits ID card has the name of your health care plan , the prescription option , and dental option if you chose to enrol in a dental plan . It also has a seven digit ‘ Benefits ID ’ number on it . This is the card you should show to your pharmacist , health service provider or your dentist .
If I do not want news & views sent to me by mail , can a copy be sent to me in digital form ?
We do not send digital copies of the news & views magazine , but you can find current and back issues in PDF format on our website at arta . net
If something should happen to me — the extended health care policy holder — what happens ? Will my spouse still be covered ?
ARTA has a ‘ survivor spouse ’ policy . If something should happen to the policyholder , the spouse should give the ARTA office a call to be guided through the steps necessary for continuing with ARTA membership and our health care plan .
I just moved . Do I need to contact ARTA ?
Yes , please contact ARTA and our plan administrator ( ASEBP ) for address , email address and phone number changes . We need this information in case we have to contact you .
If you have other questions , please do not hesitate to call ARTA at 1-855-212-2400 or email us at info @ arta . net
In 2016 , we enjoyed serving and getting to know so many of you as vibrant and active ARTA members and we look forward to continuing that relationship in 2017 !
Jerry , Candice , Ameara , Anto and Lucy — Your ARTA Member Services team
Correction
news & views extends an apology to John Tarapaski whose name was misspelled in the autumn edition ’ s article about the ARTA Golf Tournament . As well , it should have been reported that Mr . Tarapaski did win a $ 200 travel voucher from Merit Travel . We are very sorry for those errors
