Keeping in Touch with ATRF

Your pension administrator plays an important part in making sure you are receiving the pension you earned . For teachers in Alberta , the Alberta Teachers ’ Retirement Fund ( ATRF ) is the pension provider responsible for administering your pension to you and your nominee / beneficiaries .

You have an important role to play in making sure your pension is paid appropriately by ensuring that your personal information on file with ATRF is up to date .
ATRF provides many different ways to update your information , including your MyPension account online at ATRF . com . We are also accessible by email or phone if you would like help in making changes to your information .
What information needs to be kept up to date ?
Banking information
Your banking information is one of the most important pieces of information . For ATRF retired members , you can change this in one of two ways . You can sign in to MyPension and update your information there , or you can fill out a Change Direct Deposit Information form , which can be found on ATRF . com .
Let us know of changes as soon as possible to avoid delays in the deposit of your pension payment .
TIP : Do not close your previous account until you have seen at least one payment get deposited into your new account . This will ensure that the new information is accurate in our system and that the deposit has been done correctly .
If you have to close your account in a hurry , ATRF can make other arrangements to get your payment to you on time while you set up a new account . ( Your request cannot be taken over the

Address Every year ATRF sends correspondence such as the T4A and the annual pension information statement . Unfortunately , when information is out of date , many of these important documents go undelivered and are returned to us . It is very important that your pension provider is able to provide you with your tax documents and other information .
If you move , please make sure that you send in your new address . If we cannot locate you , it may delay your pension payment until such time as we can locate you . If you are planning on going somewhere warm for an extended period of time , it may be helpful to provide us with an alternate way of communicating with you or to forward your mail to your new location .
Being registered with MyPension to receive electronic communications is an easy way to stay connected with ATRF . MyPension is accessible everywhere you go .
Another important piece of administering ATRF pensions is the confirmation process that is normally done in the spring . ATRF mails a confirmation form to the mailing address we have on file for certain retired members . This process is important to ensure you are paid appropriately during your lifetime and helps make sure your nominee / beneficiaries are taken care of upon your death .
