Every once in a while , this old-timer learns something new .

While reading the autumn 2016 issue of news & views , I discovered that retired teachers are able to borrow resources from the Alberta Teachers ’ Association professional library .

The ability to keep current on wellness issues is certainly going to provide a catalyst for my intellectual wellness .

I read your article on how to contact companies by writing a letter . Great idea ! I have an addendum to that suggestion . When you write about your concern , itemize numerically so that the reader pays more attention . I am finding that letters as well as emails get skimmed and information gets lost . If you itemize , the reader ’ s attention is more focused .

The other useful resource , and I use this first before writing a paper letter , is to contact the company on their Facebook page — if they have one . You get answers quickly and they will send you contact information if they cannot help you . I use the personal message link if there is one ; if not , I post right on their page , which could sometimes be embarrassing for them .

Facebook is a good place to start with your queries . If that doesn ’ t work , then write the letter . As explained , a real letter has some punch ; and these days , because it ’ s a unique occurrence , it bears contemplation .
