ASEBP Information

ARTA Benefits premium and claim summaries
By now , you should have received your premium and claim summary for the ARTA Retiree Benefits Plan . Packages were sent by mail to the address ARTA ’ s plan administrator , the Alberta School Employee Benefit Plan ( ASEBP ), has on file for you . If you have not yet received your package , or would like to receive an electronic copy of your statement , please contact a Benefit Plan Co-ordinator at 1-855-444-2782 .
What ’ s included in my summary package ?
Your package includes a summary of the premiums you paid for your ARTA Retiree Benefits between January 1 , 2013 , and December 31 , 2013 . Please note that if you have travel benefits with ARTA , only the medical portion of the travel premium is eligible as a medical tax expense , which is why the full premium is not reflected on your statement . The non-medical amount equates to 25 % of the travel benefit premium you paid over the past year . Your statement also includes a full list of claims you and / or your dependant ( s ) made during this time period .
In your package , you will also find an information sheet about the ARTA
Member Benefits Portal . This website , hosted by ASEBP , allows you to review your coverage details and paid claims , easily connect to claim forms on the ARTA website and keep your banking , and contact information for your benefits plan up to date . If you have not already registered for an account , you can do so by visiting www . arta . net and clicking on the ASEBP logo on the home page .
We have also included a promotional piece for TW Insurance with their contact information should you be interested in taking advantage of their ARTA member discounts .
Can I use this information for my taxes ?
The information contained in the premium and claims statement may be used to calculate your nonrefundable medical expense tax credit with Canada Revenue Agency ( CRA ). To determine eligibility , contact a qualified tax advisor or the CRA .
While your statement reflects the amount you have paid for your benefits and the claims you have made over the last year , this is not an official tax receipt . As such , you should keep a record of all Explanation of Benefits ( EOB ) statements that are mailed to you after you have submitted a claim to the ARTA Retiree Benefits Plan .
We suggest that you keep all EOBs for seven years in the event that you are audited by the CRA .
Looking for Healthy Living Tips ?
