Sometimes in life you simply say , “ Wow ,” because there are no other words !

We had heard about the little pueblo ( town ) of Jardín ( garden ) — one of Colombia ’ s seventeen heritage towns — three hours from Medellín . We decided to go by bus ; there were two bus stations in Medellín , one north and one south . However , after a long metro ride to the north station to buy tickets , it was the wrong station . As Murphy ’ s Law would have it , the bus leaves from the south station — right by our condo ! My motto is that whenever you take a wrong turn or get lost , you will always find something interesting , which we did , and were able to buy our tickets there after all . The cost of each round-trip ticket on a bus with plush seats , Wi-Fi , bathroom , and movies was $ 34 .
On a Tuesday morning , we packed an overnight bag and took a twisty three-hour ride through the Andes mountains to Jardín . This two-day trip was filled with a lot of wows and a deep appreciation of the magic presented to us when we travel .
Jardín is a heritage pueblo that has been largely unchanged for the last 140 years . The colonial architecture throughout the town has wooden balconies painted in different colours , as are most buildings and front doors .
The main square is surrounded by coffee shops and little bars with colourful chairs . Older men and women were sitting outside these tiny cafés drinking — what else ? — coffee in teacups . We felt
