ARTA held its annual retreat from Sunday ,
May 29 until Tuesday , May 31 at the Solara Resort & Spa in Canmore . This year , the retreat was about wellness and was arranged by the Wellness Committee . ARTA ' s Board of Directors met following the retreat .
All ARTA committees , branch presidents accompanied by an additional branch member , and ARTA ' s office staff attended . There were also a few other guests present , such as the editor of news & views .
The retreat began with an icebreaker — one that had everyone scrambling to find every attendee and have them sign a who ' s who list . It was an opportunity to meet people we might know by name , but not by face . It was also a good chance to renew old acquaintances .
' Mrs . Pudding ' s ' presentation followed the icebreaker . Mrs . Pudding is Sue Schaefer , CDE , who has specialized in teaching about diabetes for over twenty years . She presents difficult material in a light-hearted way dressing as a fiftysomething , slightly overweight woman of undefined Eastern European origins . She ' s very funny , but the material she presents is important and she successfully walks that difficult line of not
