The transformative power of flowers explodes in India .

Hindu texts highlight rituals where flowers act as mediators between the human and the divine and channel blessings uniting devotees with cosmic energies .
In 2010 , I participated in the eight-site Ashtavinayak Ganesh pilgrimage . On the street leading to Moreshwar , the first temple , shops catering to pilgrims ’ ritual needs — flowers , coconuts , and sweets — intermingled with food stalls , souvenir shops , clothing stores , and hotels . The vibrancy is portrayed here with three primary colours .
