Edible flowers have been part of the human diet since ancient times , offering not just culinary benefits but also medicinal properties .

Our early hunter-gatherer ancestors understood the significance of the diverse plants in their surroundings , passing down this wisdom through oral traditions . The earliest documented instance of including flowers in the diet dates back to 160 BC , with historical records indicating their use by ancient Romans , medieval monks , as well as Aztec and Maya societies .
Today , the practice of adding flower blossoms to enhance the taste , scent , and appearance of food and beverages persists , and some venues take this to a whole new level of gastronomic delight .
