The old favourite container planting using a dracaena as a central focal point can take on a totally new appearance with daylilies . The daylily will provide the same tropical look as the dracaena with its long , arching leaves , but with an added benefit of bloom . The plant provides a spectacular show when in bloom and provides the same look as the dracaena when not in bloom .
Using daylilies on their own in a pot can be dramatic , but when planted with other plants such as colourful annuals , the resulting container can be truly spectacular .
Daylilies can transform any balcony , deck , or patio into a show piece with their colour , form , and fragrance . Are they the perfect perennial ? Few requirements , few insect problems , gorgeous flowers , and tough as nails qualifies them in my books as the perfect perennial .

CONTINUOUS BLOOMERS
Little Missy — Features 7.5 cm – wide flowers that are purple , edged in white , with a green throat . The stems on these plants can reach 50 to 62 cm in height .
Stella D ’ Oro — This variety is among the first daylilies to bloom in June and one of the last to finish in September . All summer , it produces masses of golden yellow flowers with ruffled petals ! Dwarf plants grow only 30 to 45 cm tall .
Razzmatazz — This early- to mid-season bloomer produces grape-red flowers with sparkling yellowgreen throats . A compact plant that will rebloom later on in the season . Stems are 50 cm tall .
Little Business — This has 8.75 cm – wide roseraspberry flowers with darker veining and a chartreuse throat . Stems are 37.5 cm tall and provide early mid-season blooms with a repeat bloom later in the season .
Little Women — Buff pink flowers with a cherry red eye zone , 5 cm wide . Plants are 65 cm high .
Little Grapette — Grape-purple 5 cm – wide flowers , with a plant height of 30 cm .
Little Rainbow — Spectacular pink , cream , orchid , and yellow blends with orange-throated flowers that are 10 cm wide . Plants reach 60 cm .
